It's so hard to watch our babies age right before our eyes. Sometimes we don't realize how quickly time slips away. I look in my dog's face and wonder if he remembers running and jumping years ago. He tries to wander around abit in the yard, but he is troubled by arthritis. Heating pad helps alot. All of my dogs live long lives. Try to make them as comfortable as possible. Enjoyed the article.
We never really know what we are getting in marriage. We ONLY think we know the person. Street angels, home devils. Love is blind and marriage is an eye opener, my mother used to say. It's never what we think. So disappointing. Glad you are out of that, but so sorry that it turned out this way for you. Ward and June Cleaver, it ain't! Thanks for sharing.
Sometimes we are more attached than we know. There's always an emptiness from the loss. Yes, dogs take over our sofas, beds and our hearts. They bring so much to our lives. Great piece!
I had 2 Yorkies and they are big dogs in small packages. They don't know they are small. They are great watch dogs. Loved the story, some husbands could sleep thru a train wreck!
There are many things a woman must consider when she finds herself alone without her partner.
A grieving widow must pay close attention to things that are said to her by the opposite sex.
The death of your husband leaves you in a very vulnerable position in life.
Regardless of your age, these points are very important, as you are finally able to come to terms with your loss.
Most widows loved their husbands so much that they know NO other man could ever compete.
Sometimes, grief, loneliness and sadness eat away at your emotions. …
When we lose our husband to death, it throws us into a state of confusion.
And that confusion can create more problems and cause us to make mistakes that we normally would not make.
I still consider what my husband would want me to do. I was always guided by him.
I was not prepared to be left alone.
When I got up that morning, I was a married woman and 4 hours later, I was a widow. Life should never be taken for granted.
Each one of us lives on a different time table.
Every morning when I get…
As a new widow, everyday is a challenge.
So many widows are faced with issues that they never dealt with when their husband was alive.
I have a love/hate relationship with car maintenance.
We all know how difficult it is for a woman alone to take her car into a garage or car dealership for service of any kind. Sometimes, I think there’s a separate price list for parts and service when the customer is female, older and alone.
Years ago when I first started driving, I could go to a “service station” to purchase gas. There was an attendant…
Cheese souffle was a favorite meal that I made for my husband and I on Sundays and sometimes rainy days.
Serving it with a fruit salad or a green salad, it was a great meal to be enjoyed with a lovely bottle of French wine or sometimes, if we were celebrating something, we would definitely have a French champagne.
I love to make souffles.
They are what I think of as a comfort food. Maybe it’s the cheese. I don’t know as I also think of mashed potatoes and gravy as comfort foods.
There are foods that seem to make…
I can certainly relate to many of the points in your story. So sorry about the death of your daughter. My husband and I bought an 1800's center hall colonial with a lot of acreage in 1999. It had a beautiful setting with big maple trees flanking the house. Too close to the house. Tree trimming is very expensive. We put in a well when we bought the house. It pumps 22 gallons a minute. Great water. Fresh and no chemicals. We installed a new oil furnace when we moved in. The house has steam radiators and the furnace has…
I have many interests and I love writing about them. Dogs,food,lifestyle.. I could go on and on, but I won’t. I’ll write articles instead!
