Where are all the smaller homes?

I remember when people looking for a “starter” home or a smaller home in suburban areas could easily find something for $10,000.00 or under.

They were usually 2 bedrooms, 1 bath with a yard and maybe a small, single car garage attached and a fence.

My first husband bought just such a house with a huge yard and 2 car garage for $12,500.00. He bought it from the owner. Early 70’s in Texas.

My father bought a similar style house in the 70’s in Texas for $9,500.00

It was located in a middle class neighborhood with good schools, churches and shopping.

Very typical Americana!

That was a different America compared to today.

Well this isn’t the 70’s and prices have risen in Texas!

Location, location, location!

Where you are located in the U.S. is a big factor in prices today as it was way back then.

Younger people reading this cannot comprehend these low prices. These homes were move in ready, not dumps or falling down.
