As I’ve gotten older, I think I have finally learned not to be defeated by my own negative thinking.
Attitude is everything!
If your attitude is always negative, well guess what? You will never lead a positive life.
Have you ever felt great about a decision you made or an accomplishment and then suddenly, this little voice in your head starts spewing negative thoughts?
“What are you thinking?”
“You’ll never succeed at that!”
“What makes you think you can do this?”
On and on it goes. Where it stops, nobody knows.
We’ve all been there. Feeling good one minute and then visited by self doubt the next minute.
Tell the little voice to “SHUT UP!”
You are the only one that can do it. You must be in control of your life. No one else can hear the little voice. (Thank goodness!)
If you continue to listen to it, you will always have a constant battle going on in your mind and it will occupy your thoughts and leave no room for anything else.
It will convince you that everything is wrong and nothing will ever work out for you. You will find yourself blaming your family background, your job, spouse, and even where you live.
STOP IT NOW!
Start being grateful.
Each morning before you start your day, write in a journal what you have to be grateful about, like your job.
Maybe you hate your job, but maybe that job keeps you fed and from being homeless.
Look for the positive side and make yourself smile.
Don’t set your personal goals so high that they are not achievable.
Don’t expect your friends to always be with you. You need to understand that your friends are fighting issues in their lives, too, and that may make their relationships with you change.
If your friendships are with people who are only negative, you need to find a graceful way of limiting your time with them without hurting their feelings. Some people don’t realize how negative they are, but you need to free yourself of as much negative speech as possible.
I used to always expect myself to be perfect. I never left any room or excuses for mistakes on my part.
So when something didn’t work out, I always blamed myself.
I hated my own shortcomings.
I would see success in others and think that I could never find any success in anything.
Then I realized that was stupid thinking.
I finally took control of my own destiny. Yes, it’s about time!
You cannot and should not put your life in someone else’s hands to control.
If you don’t like the person you are, then change. Of course it’s hard, but you can do it.
Old habits die hard!
Life is short, don’t waste it fretting over what you can’t do, find something you can do and do it well.
Don’t destroy yourself from within. Put in the effort and develop your skills.
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
What do you want to know or learn?
Chances are, that whatever it is, you can find it on YOU TUBE.
Move ahead. Life is always moving and changing. Never standing still.
Don’t allow social media to shape your life. You are you and only you. You cannot be something you’re not.
You are very unique with much to offer, but you may have to dig a little deeper to find it. It’ll be worth it in the end.
Try. Give yourself a chance.
In 20 years you’ll regret more the things you didn’t do, than the things you did do.
Appreciate that you have something to offer others, as well as yourself. Try to see yourself as others see you and you may be surprised. They are seeing the “you” that you put forward in public, keeping up appearances, so as not to disclose the real “you” that you think you are.
Make friends with that little voice in your head. You can win this battle for yourself, if you apply the right strategies.
Do it NOW and NEVER GIVE UP!
