I'm a native Texan with an accent. Job opportunities are good in Texas. You can make a lot of money or not. Dallas is new money and lots of it. Many people are moving to Texas from the north and California, which is raising real estate prices. They obviously don't know what they are getting into. You're right, we do have some curious sayings. So does every state.

The open border is allowing illegals to come into the state and then into the U.S. They bring many problems with them. When I was younger, we never had people sleeping on the streets like there is today. I am curious where you got all your statistics? Are you living in Texas? Yes, there's cowboys in pickups with gun racks. Yes, there's crime. You can easily be run off the interstates by speeders. It gets hot, but you get used to it. Everything is air conditioned. You forgot to mention the Tarantulas and fire ants. I've never heard of rodeo ants. Yes, you can be shot if caught trespassing or stealing, so it's best to be respectful of other people's property. It's a big, tough, hot state not for wimps or whiny people. There's so much more I could say, but won't. You didn't mention the toughness of West Texas.
