Very good article. I was trying to find a recipe on the internet the other day and had to keep scrolling looking past all the wordy yada yada, ran out of time, decided to skip it. I have cooked professionally for years and can look at a recipe and know if I might like it and if the measurements are correct. Cooking experience can help to prevent cooking disasters, like the one you mentioned. There are sometimes typos. It's important to read a recipe a couple of times to see if it makes sense. I hate recipes with strange ingredients that are not easily found and you might only use once. I never add the amount of salt listed as many recipe writers use too much salt. Salt can be added. And many people have cut salt from their diets for many reasons. It is possible to read a recipe and almost taste it. A little back story is good, but getting to the point so the reader can get to cooking is better! That is the whole idea after all.
