When we love our dogs, it’s always devastating to lose them. As Rudyard Kipling’s poem states, “ You give your heart to a dog to tear.”
When you are not greeted at the door, you miss the tail wagging and the excitement of your arrival coming home.
Each dog is different. They all have their own personalities. And they all bring something to your life.
Rocky would probably tell you to go rescue another furry friend. Maybe not a puppy, but a senior dog. Some older dogs are passed over in the shelters.
Older dogs need love too. They have probably been in a home environment and now for some reason, they are in a shelter.
I lost my little Shih Tzu almost 2 years ago. She died suddenly in my arms. She was 10 years old and her death was very unexpected.
I keep looking at the pictures of dogs at the local shelters because I want and need another dog in my life, even though I still have two other older dogs.
I know exactly what you are feeling. Give yourself time to grieve and when you are feeling better, you may decide to share your life with another furry companion.
Not to take Rocky’s place, but to have a wagging tail waiting at the door for your arrival home.
